GOWNS
A Bonnie Daws gown is made from the finest silks and laces. Bonnie purchases the same bridal silks that are used by such designers as Vera Wang, Monique Lhuillier, and Justina McCaffrey and works with New York lace importers to obtain the most fabulous laces from around the world. She has a vast array of bridal fabrics on hand to choose from and specialty fabrics can always be ordered.
VEILS
Legend has it that in olden times the veil was intended to keep away evil spirits until a maiden was safe in the protection of her loving husband. There are many religions and ethnic cultures that have kept the wedding veil tradition alive as part of the marriage ritual itself. In some cultures an elegantly trimmed mantilla veil is passed along from generation to generation, to be treated as a treasured keepsake.
A bride may opt for a simple, yet elegant, bridal gown, and top it off with a magnificent veil trimmed with the finest French lace or embroidery. Another may prefer a more ornate gown, and add a simple tulle cascade. Others may prefer a more modern touch with a short, whimsical headpiece and Russian or French veiling. But whatever her choice, nothing provides a more romantic look then a veil that is designed and meticulously color-matched to the shade of the bridal gown itself.

PROCESS
Clients are seen on an individual basis. Photos, sketches and ideas are welcomed at the initial meeting. Bonnie works carefully with each client to design the gown of their dreams, often for hundreds of dollars less than comparable designer gowns. Because each gown is specifically designed for an individual client, it is therefore unique and perfectly tailored to that individual. A custom Bonnie Daws gown will always fit beautifully!
The process of creating the dress of your dreams begins with the initial consultation. The client can view a portfolio of gowns that Bonnie has made for previous clients, tour the studio, look at fabrics, and examine the Collection. The gowns in Bonnie's Collection are made in a variety of fabrics and representative styles, so the client can have a better idea of the flow, drape and overall look of each fabric.
Once the client has decided on a particular style and fabric, she will be given a written estimate of the total cost. Bonnie's custom bridal gowns start at $1500, including fabric and labor, and compare with designer styles priced at hundreds (and sometimes thousands) of dollars higher.
Two months prior to the wedding date, or when the client is ready, measurements are taken and the construction process begins!
From the preliminary measurements, a muslin or "toile" is made of the entire dress. This gives the client a first-hand glimpse of exactly what her finished dress will look like, in terms of shape and fit. This is where the client can have a hand in actually designing her own gown. Laces and trims are pinned on the muslin in alternate ways to illustrate different choices. If sleeves are to be part of the gown, a couple of optional styles can be made for consideration. Minor changes and refinements can easily be made on this test garment.
Once approved, the muslin is then taken apart and used as the pattern or template for the actual dress. Linings and construction interfacings are all cut from this same template allowing everything to fit together perfectly. The process then goes from flat pattern pieces to a breathtakingly beautiful gown!
From the time that the first seams are sewn, each gown is placed on a dressmakers form (of appropriate size) to ensure the integrity of the fabric. Following the first, a series of subsequent fittings (usually between two and four) is scheduled at the client's convenience. The dress is held on its own form in a private room between fittings until it is picked up at the time of the final visit.
